For years, Hot Ones – which is a staple show on the First We Feast YouTube channel – has fascinated viewers. For those who want to get to know more about their favourite celebs, this unique show is the place to go. As host Sean Evans explains at the start of every episode: “It’s the show with hot questions and even hotter wings.” Celebs must articulate their answers while enduring a line-up of hot sauces.

Over the show’s 19 seasons, Sean has hosted a range of LGBTQIA icons such as Tessa Thompson, Wanda Sykes, Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer, Aubrey Plaza, Kristen Stewart, Halsey and many more. And yesterday (27 October), award-winning actor and all-time DIVA fave Cate Blanchett took on the Hot Ones challenge.

It’s been a big year for Cate. She’s picking up a lot of Oscars buzz for her performance in the psychological drama Tár, where she plays a fictional world famous lesbian composer who makes herstory as the first woman to conduct a major orchestra in Germany. While readers in the US have already had the chance to see the phenomenal film, here in the UK we’ll have to wait until the release date of 23 January to see her stellar performance.

For now, we get the pleasure of watching Cate dressed in a glorious shiny purple jacket as she prepares for things to get heated on this beloved show. Though, before she even takes on the first wing, she gets sweaty with anticipation, taking off her coat to reveal a dapper teal blazer.

As she takes on the Hot Ones challenge Cate talks Tár, playing a monkey in Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio, Lord Of The Rings and much, much more. While she struggles with the spice, she embraces the experience with charm.

By the time it comes to plug Tár at the end of the episode, Cate has become tearful from the wings. But she manages to say that she and Nina Hoss play “husband and wife” in the film as the credits roll. Cate is a woman who can do anything, even taking on this fiery challenge. It’s definitely one of the best episodes of the show so far.
