Last year, Yellowjackets hit screens and instantly became one of the biggest sensations on TV. The first season followed the lives of a group of teen girls fighting to stay alive in the wilderness following a plane crash, with the story flashing forward to follow the characters as adults after returning to civilisation. The first season was full of twists and turns and many LGBTQI viewers loved the WLW storylines. Following the jaw dropping finale, we have eagerly been refreshing our feeds hoping for more news. Watch this space as we’ll up updating this article as more announcements are made.
When will Yellowjackets season two be released?
Production for this season is set to begin this month. While an official release date hasn’t been confirmed, yet, we’re hoping this schedule means we will get to be reunited with the show this autumn or winter. The last season premiered in the US in November and in the UK in early December. So fingers crossed we’ll get more Yellowjackets this year.
How many episodes will there be in season two?
This has also not been confirmed yet, however it would be a safe guess that like the first season it would have 10 new episodes. With all unanswered questions there’s definitely enough thrills to fill that episode count.
Who from the cast will be returning?
As a psychological thriller and survival show, there were of course some fatalities last season. But we can expect to see the adult versions of our main cast, Melanie Lynskey (Shauna), Christina Ricci (Misty), Juliette Lewis (Natalie) and Tawny Cypress (Taissa) as well as their teen selves played by Sophie Nélisse, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Warning spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t watch season one, stop reading and stream now!
Of course, now that we know Lottie is at the root of the cannibalism cult, we’re sure to see more of Courtney Eaton this time around.
And of course, we have to talk about one of Lottie’s main followers, Van (Liv Hewson). It was recently announced that Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) has been cast as adult Van. Which makes us wonder, did Van make it back to civilisation? And if so, will, is there a chance of some WLW scenes between Lauren and Tawny?
Major update: we finally know who will be playing the adult Antler Queen herself AKA Lottie, it’s Simone Kessell! Simone has previously portrayed Blackbeard’s mother in queer favourite, Our Flag Means Death. We can’t wait to see what she brings to this role.
