No plans for the weekend? No fear! Kite Festival debuts at the stunning Kirtlington Park, Oxfordshire on Friday 10 June. A brand-new festival of ideas and music alike, the legend that is Grace Jones will be bringing her unique, hedonistic Studio 54 sound to the fields of Oxfordshire. The queen of self-empowerment, Self Esteem, will be playing hits from her sophomore album, Prioritise Pleasure, and drag artist Bimini – the queen of our hearts – will be gracing the stage in all her punk glory.

Notably, Self Esteem was nominated for a 2022 BRIT Award and was a recipient of Album of the Year in The Guardian and The Times in 2021. Playing festivals across the UK and Europe this summer, she’s one to watch. 90s indie dance group Saint Etienne will also be performing, alongside Mavis Staples, Katy J Pearson, The Orielles, Confidence Man and more.

If you’d like to engage with some of the freshest, most intellectual minds in the industry, why not attend one of Kite’s talks? Elizabeth Day, Russell Tovey and Robert Diament, June Sarpong, Bimini, Mandu Reid and Jen Brister are just some of the famous faces offering their two cents on everything from politics, to media, to comedy. Jen Brister recently appeared on Channel 4’s documentary Where Have All The Lesbians Gone?, and Mandu Reid is the first bisexual woman of colour to lead a political party – the Women’s Equality Party – in British history.

Sound like your cup of tea? Tickets start at £54 for a day ticket. Grab yours here! To keep up with Kite Festival, follow them on Twitter and Instagram.
