Emeli Sandé has attracted a huge queer fanbase and has advocated for LGBTQI rights throughout her career. The singer-songwriter has now come out and revealed to Metro that she has a new partner, a classical pianist, who she met just after lockdown and feels like “she’s the one for life”.
Emeli was previously married to marine biologist Adam Gouraguine in 2012 before the pair broke things off in 2014. When asked whether she now identifies as bisexual, the musician said: “I’m not sure what I identify as but I guess so. I just feel like I should fall in love with whoever I fall in love with.”
For Emeli “true love and having love in your life makes everything fit into place.” She opened up about her relationship as she released her new song There Isn’t Much. As she sings “‘Cause no matter who I love / and no matter who I touch / I’m afraid there isn’t much / without you,” she’s accompanied by a group of LGBTQI dancers.
Emeli’s nationwide tour starts next month and it certainly sounds like she has indeed found her one for life. She told Metro that she has introduced her partner to her parents, who approved of the relationship. Hooray for love!
