TGIF, the weekend is here, but most importantly, the musician, actress and ultimate LGBTQI icon, Heather Peace has returned with her fifth album, This Love, which will be released on 15 April. It is also available to pre-order today, go go go!
Heather wrote, recorded and produced This Love from her attic during lockdown. The album became her escape from the stress of life in the pandemic. Inspired by the afternoon dances she shared with her wife and three children in between home schooling, the record is full of upbeat joy and perfect for fans of retro disco. It gorgeously portrays the beauty and reality of marriage, parenthood and all the fun and complexities that come with it.
And I mean, just look at the album cover, isn’t it GLORIOUS?
Heather has commented on the experience of producing an album for the first time: “I kind of had no choice because we were in lockdown and I did miss going into the big studios, but I wouldn’t have gone down this fun, disco route if I hadn’t been locked down in my little attic studio. In there I found hope and focus. I am super, super excited for people hear This Love now.”
If you’re frequent readers of DIVA, you’ll know we’re big Heather Peace fans. She graced the cover of our 300th issue where she opened up to DIVA editor Roxy Bourdillon about her journey from coming out in the 90s to becoming a lesbian icon through starring in the hit TV series Lip Service and her recent role in butching up Albert Square in BBC’s Eastenders. Suffice to say, we’ll be streaming This Love on repeat!
Don’t miss out on the magic, you can pre-order This Love today. Out 15 April.
