We won’t be responsible for our behaviour during Genie In A Bottle, just saying 🔮

Happy Friday, DIVAs! Brighton and Hove Pride has brightened (pun intended!) up our weekend, confirming that it will be returning for an ultra-glittery run on Saturday 6 August 2022 with Christina Aguilera as its headliner. Christina will be performing at its We Are Fabuloso event, the official fundraiser for the Brighton Rainbow Fund. Get excited!

Brighton and Hove Pride is the UK’s biggest Pride Festival, having raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charitable causes. A portion of the ticket revenue is directed towards community fundraising for the Rainbow Fund and the Pride Social Impact Fund, having raised over £936,000 to date. The Rainbow Fund issues grants to LGBTQI and HIV groups operating in and around Brighton and Hove, with the Pride Social Impact Fund benefitting local causes through donations and grants alike. Brighton and Hove Pride has the wellbeing of its local LGBTQI community at its very heart.

This year, Brighton and Hove Pride celebrates its 30th year, and it’s set to be the sparkliest celebration yet. Receiving the Music Icon Award at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, Christina has long been an LGBTQI ally. Raising funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS, advocating for marriage equality and campaigning against anti-LGBTQI bullying, she has always used her voice to fight for the rights of the most marginalised. She’s adored by LGBTQI people across the world.

In 2019, Christina received the coveted Human Rights Campaign Ally for Equality Award, penning a letter to the community in 2017 that read: “The LGBTQ community has never had it easy, the struggles each one of you faces daily on an individual level and on a broader political and cultural level are unimaginable, yet you keep fighting, you keep moving forward trailblazing and beating all odds with love always in your hearts.”

It comes as no surprise that long-standing attendees of Brighton and Hove Pride are delighted.

Paul Kemp is the Director of Brighton Pride, stating: “As we celebrate our (delayed) 30th anniversary, we are really thrilled to have secured an iconic star and LGBTQ+ ally such as Christina Aguilera to perform at the Preston Park Pride festival, our main fundraiser for the Brighton Rainbow Fund. It’s going to be ‘Beautiful’.”

Get those dates in your diary ASAP! Tickets are available now here, and more artist announcements will be made next week. To keep up, follow Brighton and Hove Pride on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or visit their website.
