Today singing superstar Demi Lovato took to social media to share the news that they identify as non-binary and use they/them pronouns.

Demi wrote:

“Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all. I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary & will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”

They added, “I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths & know I am sending so much love your way.”

In a heartfelt video, Demi explained that they had come to understand their gender identity after devoting time to “healing and self-reflective work” over the past year and a half.

“I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering.”

They also revealed that their new 4D With Demi podcast features fascinating conversations about identity between Demi and other non-binary folks.

Here at DIVA HQ, we’re big fans of the Sorry Not Sorry singer, who came out as pansexual in March.

It’s incredibly inspiring to see Demi using their platform to share their authentic self with the world, while providing much-needed visibility for non-binary people. We love you, Demi!
