Just a few weeks ago, LGBTQI youth homelessness charity akt launched their #aktogether sessions. It was a fabulous two-day digital festival aimed at fundraising for their cause, while entertaining and engaging their supporters and young people alike.
The sessions brought together some of the community’s top performers, creators and activists, including some fantastic women and non-binary people such as Heather Peace, L Devine, Suzi Ruffell, Lady Phyll, Shivani Dave, Foxgluvv and Sadie Sinner.
All of the content varied from musical performances, to panels on Pride and the community, comedy workshops and even a tutorial on setting up your own home photoshoot in isolation. You can still catch plenty of the sessions over on akt’s YouTube channel and donate – so don’t worry if you missed out!
Charlie Jordin, Digital Officer at akt said: “We were so happy to deliver two days of content with the sessions that engaged and entertained our young people and supporters, and helped bring together a real sense of community. It was a privilege to have support from our wonderful patrons and friends, including Heather Peace and DIVA, as well as work for the first time with people we really admire like Suzi Ruffell and L Devine!”
DIVA were thrilled to be involved and support our friends at akt by speaking to Heather Peace about her involvement with the charity as a patron and how she’s been doing. She also played us a fantastic set which you won’t want to miss.
Our session with Heather even was akt’s most watched video, reaching over 1,600 people on Facebook and raised £75 from Facebook alone. A huge thank you to all those who got involved!
