Top actors are getting together on Zoom to tell stories to make you stay at home – and raise funds for our NHS during the current global pandemic. And it’s about to get sinister with a fantastic cast reading from killer thriller The Doll Maker, written by lesfic author Claire Highton-Stevenson.

The series of live online readings has drawn rave reviews from viewers as these brilliant actors bring the characters right into your living room – and the next one is sure to have you hot and bothered – whilst chilling you to the bone.

This adaptation sees The Doll Maker by Claire Highton-Stevenson being brought to life by a fantastic line-up of some our favourite actors, including Victoria Broom, Jessica Clark, Tom Lister, Suzie Trayling and Kenny Fullwood.

Victoria Broom

Jessica Clark plays DI Sophie Whitton, a totally driven cop whose passion is for justice, and who is on the trail of a serial killer they call The Doll Maker. Frustrated by lack of progress in the investigation, she puts every minute she can into the case – at the expense of her failing relationship with girlfriend Yvonne, played by Susie Trayling. As the killer taunts the police and escalates his evil, Whitton is ever more determined to hunt him down – but then she meets Rachel and her world and her priorities start to change.

As Whitton and sidekick DI Saint played by Tom Lister search for clues, the pieces start to fit together – in a dangerous and horrifying way none of them could have predicted.

Suzie Trayling

Told over six days, starting at 7pm on Tuesday 12 May, the story is narrated by Kate Magowan with dialogue performed by top actors – it’s a new, exciting format that takes the story to an up close and personal level.

The series was developed by BooksOffice, a platform created by writer Elaine Sturgess and actress Leslie Ash to champion more diverse stories in the journey from Book to Screen.
