Feast your eyes on Nina’s Heavenly Delights, then watch our exclusive interview with filmmaker Pratibha Parmar
Calling all lez/bi movie buffs, sapphic cinephiles and people who are just plain bored during lockdown! We have something lovely for you to add to your undoubtedly crammed social calendar. Next Wednesday 22 April, as part of the first ever Lesbian Visibility Week, we’re holding a fun-filled DIVA Movie Night.

The film we’ve chosen is an absolute classic. It’s romantic, it’s delicious… it’s Nina’s Heavenly Delights! An exhilarating comedy drama with a touch of magical realism and a sprinkling of Bollywood spectacle, it follows the mixed fortunes of a Glaswegian family and their Indian restaurant. An original, vibrant movie filled with an explosion of colourful characters who charm us with their upbeat approach to life, love and curry!
We’ve even lined up an exclusive interview with the fabulous, award-winning filmmaker Pratibha Parmar, whose other work includes documentaries Alice Walker: Beauty In Truth and A Place Of Rage. If you have any questions for Pratibha – about this flick or any other aspect of her incredible career – then email us by the end of Monday at editorial@divamag.co.uk using the subject heading “DIVA Movie Night”.
To take part in this event, you can watch the film via Vimeo and then tune into the Q&A at 7.30pm on Wednesday. Keep an eye on our social media – Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – as we will be sharing the link to watch the interview.
Now, who fancies some popcorn? On second thoughts, let’s make it a curry.
Like many businesses, DIVA has been hit hard by the economic impact of coronavirus and we need your help to keep the presses rolling throughout the pandemic. Visit our PayPal fundraising page and give what you can. Your support means the world.
