A stripped down version of Lauren’s new single, Lento? Yes, please

If there’s one thing that’s getting us through lockdown, it’s the sweet, sweet sounds of queer music blasting through our earphones.

It’s only been a couple weeks since Lauren Jauregui released the smouldering music video for Lento, the lead single from her yet-to-be-titled upcoming debut album as a solo artist.

But since time no longer moves in the same way it once did, we’re pretty excited to have another video to play on repeat from Lauren.

The latest video rendition of Lento is a beautiful and stripped down one, the result of a collaboration with music video platform Vevo.

This version of Lento truly captures the beauty of the song as the energy moves through her gestures as she sings along in Spanglish wearing the black power suit of dreams.

She’s accompanied only by a mic stand and a gorgeous backing duo with a cajón and electric guitar as she performs the song, stripping it down and elevating the influence of Lauren’s Cuban roots.

Lento is the first official solo release from Lauren this year, following her wildly popular Invisible Chains. After spending most of 2019 in the studio, writing and recording new music, the award-winning artist and activist is ready to enter a new phase of her career, with even more new music on the horizon and an album in the works.

True to her artistic ethos, this next phase finds her fully expressing her creativity in every aspect of her art, from writing songs to conceptualising and editing her own music videos.

We can’t wait for her to throw us a bone about her debut solo album. We need details soon.

For now, here’s her official live performance of Lento.
