Since 2011, Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest – an entirely volunteer-run organisation rooted in London’s queer creative scene – has come around every November to showcase an eclectic mix of films, arts and events celebrating LGBTIQA+ stories from around the world.
This year, DIVA have teamed up with the lovely folks behind Fringe! as community partners for their screening of French director Alice Heit’s feature, Deep Waters (2019) on Sunday 17 November 2019 at Stoke Newington Town Hall, London.
“A mesmerising and poetic essay film on the theory, beauty and praxis of the female orgasm, on AFAB ejaculation, and its various forms and mysteries. It certainly made us very excited, and we’re looking forward to sharing a rare chance to sit in the dark and really engage with our journeys with pleasure, together.
“It’s not until you watch a film like this that you realise how rare it is, even for sex-positive audiences, to hear descriptions of orgasm and ejaculation so accurate and prescriptive whilst being truly magical, in a world where such pleasure is seen as frivolous (or even mythological!) Heit plays with and exalts this mythology in the testimonies heard on screen to indulgent effect. Relax and revel in a deserving topic.”
As well as Deep Waters, there’ll also be a short screening before the main feature of German short Honey And Glitter (2019), “a joyful autoerotic fantasy comes true for Cupcake in this entrancing, sticky short.”
Oh, and there’s much (much) nudity in both.
