The UKโ€™s largest and longest running LGBTQI arts and culture festival is back, people. Running across various venues in Liverpool from 1-10 November 2019, Homotopia is breathing a breath of fresh queer air into the city. (And the launch party on 31 October? Itโ€™s not to be missed…)

Every year Homotopia focuses on bringing well-known LGBTQI artists, along with exciting emerging artists, to take part in its queer-tastic programme. It’s a platform for LGBTQI people with a clear message.ย

This year is no different with brand new theme, โ€œResist! Resist!โ€ honouring the 50th anniversary since the Stonewall riots in order to explore elements of protest and resistance, challenging bigotry and intolerance.ย

With a passion for social justice, the festival provides artists with a place to explore ideas and champion inclusivity.

Festival Director Char Binns said: โ€œResist! Resist! Is such an important theme for us at Homotopia because we are still in protest mode, 50 years after Stonewall. As the world becomes angrier, smaller, and less tolerant, we provide platforms for artists who offer a new way of self expression and, by making their voices heard, provide new forms of resistance.

โ€œArt and culture is one of the most powerful ways to spread ideas, to champion diversity and to challenge hate. At Homotopia we are at the front of the protest with our banners raised high.โ€
