Happy International Pronouns Day! Today we honour and celebrate all pronouns. This awareness day creates a space for us to come together to make sharing pronouns commonplace.
When is International Pronouns Day?
International Pronouns Day is an annual event that takes place on the third Wednesday of October. This year, International Pronouns Day takes place on 21 October.
What is International Pronouns Day?
International Pronouns Day is an awareness period that aims to normalise sharing pronouns and make education about personal pronouns commonplace. Using the correct pronouns is a vital part of respecting a person’s gender identity and can help to make a space inclusive and welcoming. This day looks to transform society into a place where using the correct pronouns is the norm.
How did International Pronouns Day start?
Founded in 2018, International Pronouns Day began as a grassroots project. The day’s founders wanted to create a space where people could come together to celebrate all pronouns.
What can I do to celebrate International Pronouns Day?
There are lots of ways you can get involved in International Pronouns Day. But perhaps the easiest, and often most impactful, is to start normalising sharing pronouns in your workplace, educational setting or friend group. When meeting a new person, introduce yourself with your pronouns. This can help other people feel more comfortable sharing their own pronouns.
