Cara Delevingne has had quite the career. She’s wowed the world as a model and has shown off her acting chops in various roles. She even directed Reneé Rapp’s Pretty Girls music video. Earlier this year, the superstar also released her debut singles, I Forgot and Out Of My Head and has received praise for her vulnerable lyrics. And now, in today’s episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast, listeners will get to hear more vulnerability from the singer, as she opens up about her sexuality, addiction and hope for the future.

For years, there has been speculation that Cara and Amber Heard were romantically involved during Amber’s divorce from Johnny Depp. Not one to beat around the bush, Louis asked: “Are we going to mention the Johnny Depp thing? […] He was driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you.”

Cara told Louis that she believes Johnny was driven crazy by jealousy when she and Amber worked on London Fields together, a film he was also a part of. She confirmed that “Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.”

After some more prying from Louis, she added: “We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled, I suppose. But she was also entangled with other people.”

Throughout the conversation, Cara was very open about her sexuality, which is great to see, considering the comments that were made to her by Harvey Weinstein. “[He said] ‘You’ll never make it in the industry if people think you’re gay.’ And I really believed him, and I really took that to heart.”

After Cara confessed to her history of sabotaging relationships, crediting substances and work for being at the forefront of it, she enthused that now her relationship “is the most important thing”. Louis went on to ask if she sees herself getting married or making a lifelong commitment to someone. Her response was “Yeah, I do. I really do. I want a family really badly.”

“I definitely don’t want to have kids to fix anything, but I think it will really heal parts of myself that have a tough time having sympathy for the kid I was,” Cara added. “Because I’ve done a lot of work with that and imagining a little kid going through the things I saw or went through, I couldn’t imagine that.”

Earlier this year, on stage at a Rosalía concert, Cara confessed: “If you didn’t know this already, I’m a lesbian and my weakness used to be straight women.”

While the singer has previously dated men and used bi+ labels, she clarified to Louis that: “I think men are attractive. I think if you’re a lesbian, you can still find men attractive. I’ve never been in love with a man, so I think that classifies me as a lesbian.”

Cara also opened up about clashing with fellow queer celeb Jameela Jamil on Twitter, the low points of her addiction and more.
