On Sunday (24 May), the body of missing trans student Murry Foust was found by a search party in Wilder, Kentucky. A recent Facebook post from Murry’s family stated that they were setting up an art scholarship fund in his name.

Murry was last seen on 27 April, wearing a yellow backpack around the Latonia area of Covington, Kentucky. Police issued a public alert three days later, launching a wide-scale search for the Northern Kentucky University (NKU) student. An independent search party found Murry’s body in an industrial area in Wilder on 24 May. The Covington Police Department have stated that they did not suspect foul play, but a coroner’s report has not been released.

Following this news, Murry’s family announced they were establishing an art scholarship in his name. “While our hearts are broken and this is not the outcome we were hoping for, we can only pray that finding them provides closure and comfort to everyone who is hurting.”

“We are establishing an art scholarship fund in their name to honor their love of art. Any donations or proceeds from the sale of Murry’s work will be used to support other art students in the community.”

The Meal Train fundraiser has currently raised over $10,000, at the time of writing.

Friends have shared stories about how much Murry meant to them. One wrote: “Murry was one of my first friends I made in college, and helped me feel so much comfortable about myself, especially where I had came up to northern Kentucky knowing zero people.”

On May 29, Murry’s art is scheduled to be shown at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s Art After Dark series. His family also stated that there will be a pottery fundraiser held at NKU.
