Yungblud’s track Hello Heaven, Hello will become the soundtrack for a new trans photography exhibition taking place at Outernet London on 17 November.

Jake and Hannah Graf’s Trans Is Human exhibition will be showing for free at this iconic venue, celebrating the stories of 13 deeply inspiring but ordinary trans people. With photographs taken by Mariano Vivanco, the exhibition tracks the personal journeys and stories of the photographs’ subjects.

Speaking about the exhibition, Yungblud said: “I’m honoured that Hello Heaven, Hello will be a part of this exhibition. Trans Is Human is all about celebrating truth, identity and the beauty of being yourself, unapologetically. That’s something I’ve always tried to celebrate in everything I do. I’m buzzing to play even a small part in telling these powerful  stories.”

Through immersive screens, attendees will be able to learn stories about people like Sarah who overcame sight loss and now supports LGBTQIA+ people with disabilities by running marathons. Other stories include Amanda’s journey as a refugee and the first Miss Trans Global Uganda.

Created and produced by Jake and co-produced by Hannah, the pair wanted to bring trans joy to the UK. “The idea for Trans Is Human came about following years and years of misinformation and the demonisation of the UK’s trans community that left us almost entirely dehumanised,” the pair said. “Now, at such a pivotal moment for the UK trans community, as we face the possible loss of many of our most basic human rights, Trans Is Human is more vital than ever.”

Following the UK Supreme Court ruling earlier this year, trans people in the UK have been subject to harassment, discrimination and heightened levels of transphobia. Exhibitions like Trans Is Human are vital in showcasing the power of community, empathy and understanding.

Scott Neal, Outernet Creative Director Culture and Lifestyle, said: “A recent YouGov poll showed 84% of trans people in Britain feel unsafe in public spaces. Trans Is Human showcases the humanity behind individual trans stories to highlight that  gender identity is just a part of a person’s story.”

You can see Trans Is Human on 17 November at Outernet London.
