Sapphics, hold onto your couches and get ready to say “yeehaw” as Netflix’s The Hunting Wives has been confirmed for a second series.

Set in an East Texas Town, The Hunting Wives shocked and enticed viewers with its raunchy depiction of gun-toting, right-wing sapphics getting up to no good. Starring Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman, the series follows Sophie (Brittany) as she delves into the world of socialite Margo (Malin). It’s saucy, full of secrets and has been heralded as utterly addictive.

Netflix has confirmed that the show will be getting a series two, much to the delight of viewers. Executive producer Rebecca Cutter said, “I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.”

So what is series two going to be about? Well, the logline doesn’t reveal too much. “Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?”

If one thing is for sure, the sapphics will be seated regardless. Fans lost it at the Emmys when Brittany and Malin presented an award together with a nod to The Hunting Wives. In a now-viral clip, Brittany apologised for being “slow to come out”. In true Margo fashion, Malin replied: “Oh, I don’t mind waiting for you to come out.”

While some people have critiqued the show for being too raunchy or outrageous, LGBTQIA+ audiences have enjoyed the campy nature of this mystery series.

The Hunting Wives was adapted from May Cobb’s 2021 novel of the same name, and the second season will continue its story.
