Last weekend, Sabrina Carpenter performed her newest release, Tears from the Man’s Best Friend hit album at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, continuing to cement her status as a true pop princess.

Bedazzled in her signature sparkles and bouncy blowout, Sabrina delivered a show-stopping scene, rising from a manhole beneath the stage and surrounded by a group of glittering and talented performers.

Performing at a global awards show with that amount of publicity and recognition, Sabrina and her team made sure to seize the moment and shine the spotlight on a more pressing matter, delivering a powerful and important message straight from the heights of musical stardom.

With signs stating “Love each other” and “Dolls, dolls, dolls” flooding the stage, it was clear Sabrina meant for the performance to be memorable in more ways than one.

During her performance, Sabrina was joined on stage by notable drag queens from various seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Lexi Love and Laganja Estranja, as well as ballroom sensation Honey Balenciaga, who has danced alongside Beyoncé on her two most recent tours. While Sabrina debuted her new single, her performers rallied around her, armed with posters and signs supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and trans rights.

Poignant and timely messages such as “Protect trans rights”, “Trans rights are human rights”, “We are everywhere”, and “Brace 4 change” were confidently marched across the stage – a powerful statement in the face of threats and challenges to trans and LGBTQIA+ rights, both in the US and globally.

Sabrina’s showstopping singing-dancing medley also featured other iconic drag queens and dancers, such as Denali, Jewels Sparkles, Symone, Dashaun Wesley, and Richie Shazam, who all held placards displaying messages of support and awareness for the trans and queer community.
