Australian megastar G Flip has just announced their third studio album will be released on 5 September, following the smash hit singles Disco Cowgirl and Big Ol’ Hammer. The album, Dream Ride, will provide the perfect scream-in-your-car hits, queer anthems and songs to cry to.
The star also released a new track from the upcoming album called In Another Life. Inspired by the 80s, G Flip spoke about the inspiration for this new sonic endeavour. “I kept asking myself, ‘Who would I have been in the 80s? What would I wear, what haircut would I have, and what car would I drive?’ The answer is Butch Springsteen, the masc lesbian, non-binary, drumming, singing pop star that never existed.”
Fans went wild last month when G Flip released the music video to their track Big Ol’ Hammer, featuring queer icons like Shannon Beveridge, Jacqueline Toboni and Kath Ebbs. The sweaty, sexy music video was the perfect accompaniment to Pride Month. Later this year, G Flip is set to perform at Montreal Pride and the Washington, DC and New York City editions of All Things Go Music Festival.
Dream Ride follows G Flip’s sophomore album DRUMMER which was celebrated for sapphic anthems like Be Your Man and The Worst Person Alive. Last year G Flip also had the internet buzzing when they released a cover of Taylor Swift’s infamous song Cruel Summer.
For fans of Selling Sunset, you’ll be delighted to know that some of the tracks will be inspired by G Flip’s relationship with Chrishell Stause. Speaking to DIVA last month, G Flip said: “There are songs about sex. There are songs about loss. There are songs about my sweet darling Chrishell as well.”
Dream Ride will be released on 5 September.
