“We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated”

Anna Camp, who is best known for her role in the Pitch Perfect trilogy and more recently in series five of You, stood up for her relationship with stylist and on-set designer Jade Whipkey after a slew of critical comments.
The actor said via Instagram: “I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them. We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything.”
She added: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well 🙂 Especially this Pride month.”
Camp left this comment under a video of the couple making their red carpet debut at the Bride Hard premiere on 18 June. The film also features fellow Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson.
“I brought my girlfriend, Jade,” Camp said to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere. “We’re very excited. I’m so happy to be having a fun night with her.”
Viewers quickly discovered that Whipkey is 24, making her 18 years Camp’s junior.
Some commenters left remarks about their age difference. “That kind of age difference in any relationship makes me very uncomfortable,” said one. Another read: “It’s giving mother daughter.”
Others jumped to the couple’s defence. One comment said: “24 is ADULT age, they are grown ADULTS.”
The actor was featured alongside Whipkey in a street interview on TikTok in February. She was asked what she expected from a man on the first date, and replied: “I don’t expect anything from a guy anymore because I’m dating a woman and it’s great.”
Relationship rumours swirled when Camp included Whipkey in an Instagram post on 28 March, captioning the photos: “Happiness lately happening.”
Camp confirmed their relationship in May, captioning an Instagram story of Whipkey “Date night”.
