Good news, alt-pop fans! Nxdia, the Egyptian-Sudanese singer who went viral for their unabashedly queer song She Likes A Boy, has released another track. From top surgery to gender freedom, Boy Clothes is a powerful biographic song about the chaos of gender dysphoria and the power of being in boy clothes.

Back in November 2024, Nxdia released a track called Feel Anything, a raw song diving into their experiences of depression and manic episodes. While the track was being streamed millions of times and entered the Top 20 on the Spotify Viral Top 50 playlist, Nxdia was undergoing top surgery. This defining moment in their life is part of an ongoing gender journey detailed in their newest song, Boy Clothes.

The song details not just wanting to borrow a man’s clothes, but to hijack his life and all the freedom that comes with it. “I think there’s a freedom in being in ‘Boy Clothes’,” says Nxdia. “Sitting with your legs wide open, stretching and the lack of awareness and self consciousness – loads of ease and carefree energy we associate with being more masculine.”

“Your ‘Boy Clothes’ can be men’s clothing, comfy clothing, big clothing – a f*****g dress if it emboldens you. Everything you need to feel like hot s**t, walking around without trying too hard – cool without forcing it.”

Nxdia added that they grew up wishing they could get away with the same things as their male peers. While they say the term “Boy Clothes” is ridiculous in itself, we all know what they mean when it’s said and automatically associate it with comfort and power.

The non-binary singer is beloved by their fans for their gender-defying life on social media. Sharing updates on their top surgery has only made that love and support grow stronger. Always honest, Nxdia’s been open about the mental challenges of their gender journey but, with Boy Clothes, is also honest about their drive to live life as exactly who they are.

Alongside the song, Nxdia has also released a striking music video. Through a series of vignettes in which Nxdia steals the life of the male protagonist, the video embraces the chaotic liberation of the song.
