L Word fans, brace yourself. If you’ve been missing Sarah Shahi on your screen, your prayers might have just been answered.

The star revealed in an interview with Collider that she will be returning for the sequel of the beloved LGBTQIA film Red, White & Royal Blue. The 2023 Prime Video film captivated queer fans everywhere with the love story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, and young Prince Henry. Based on Casey McQuiston’s novel of the same name, it quickly became a hit.

Fans of The L Word’s Carmen were quick to fall in love with Sarah Shahi’s character Zahra. Starring as the overworked, stressed deputy chief of staff for Ellen Claremont (Uma Thurman), Zahra’s one-liners made her a stand out character.

“Yes, I actually am returning for the sequel. Zahra is back,” she told Collider.

Sarah also spoke about the success of the initial film, stating that it was “hard to tell” how it was going to be received by fans. “You just wanna do your best job,” she explained. “You don’t think about whether or not the audience is gonna like it or not. That’s not up to you. You don’t have any control over it.”

She continued: “It still managed to break records and shatter the platforms that Amazon had at that point. I had never seen that coming. It did in one night what they thought the film would do at its best in three weeks. It was just huge.”

While no plot details or premiere timeline have been given yet for the sequel, the central love interests Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez have also been confirmed for the sequel.
