INTERVIEW BY NIC CROSARA, IMAGE BY PRIME VIDEO

Here at DIVA, we’re huge fans of Sarah Shahi – the actor who played Carmen de la Pica Morales in The L Word. Although we were disappointed that she didn’t make an appearance in the Generation Q reboot of the series, she will always be revered for her iconic role. She has been in many films and TV shows since The L Word ended, and we’re so excited to see her in her latest project: playing Zahra Bankston in the Prime Video film, Red, White & Royal Blue. For the August/September issue, we spoke to Sarah about her time on The L Word and her current project.

Here’s a teaser…

Working with Kate Moennig

“She has this brooding quality about her, and I’m just like a Labrador puppy version of her. I have huge love for her, and she does for me too.”

The audience rooting for Carmen and Shane

“There was a real innocence in their love for one another… Carmen was finally the one person who, for a moment, looked like she could tame Shane.”

Her character in Red, White & Royal Blue

“She’s a shot in the arm. It didn’t matter to me whether she was on screen for five minutes or two hours.”
