2025 is going to be a big year for Netflix. The streaming platform has already started the year off with a bang, receiving a record number of Oscar nominations. Most of these were for Emilia Pérez, placing queer stories and performers at the centre of the action.

This is set to continue as Netflix has revealed their upcoming slate, with an incredible number LGBTQIA stories and performers set to appear on the streaming platform. Here’s everything you need to look out for on Netflix this year:

Stranger Things season five

It’s the final season of the supernatural series Stranger Things. As the residents of Hawkins, Indiana, gear up to fight Vecna, friendships are tested, lives are put on the line and the world threatens to change forever. Both Maya Hawke and Amybeth McNulty return for the final season, leaving sapphic fans with hope that Robin will finally acknowledge her feelings for Vickie

Ginny & Georgia season three

Fans of the mother-daughter drama are sure to be excited that season three will finally be on our screens this summer. This season is set to be the most tense yet, as Ginny must figure out where her loyalties lie following her mother’s arrest in season two. Of course, for queer fans of the show, this is only half the story. The real question is, will Maxine and Silver finally get together?

Wednesday season two

Wednesday Addams is back. The psychic sleuth still has questions after her first term at Nevermore Academy and this season, she may just find the answers, encountering new mysteries on the way. Jenna Ortega returns as the titular Addams, as does Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair. If fans have their way the roommates will realise they are more than friends. Heather Matarazzo also guest stars this season.

Sirens

This new show, starring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and House Of The Dragon’s Milly Alcock, follows Devon, a woman who thinks her sister Simone has a creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela. Devon decides it’s time for an intervention, but has no idea how formidable an opponent Michaela will be.

Fear Street: Prom Queen

Welcome back to Shadyside. The next installment of the Fear Street franchise tells the story of the mysterious disappearances of prom queen candidates in 1988. The previous three Fear Street films were incredibly sapphic, and we hope the fourth film will be just the same.

And there’s loads more starring LGBTQIA actors…

While these stories may not feature LGBTQIA characters, there’s loads of films and TV shows slated featuring some of our favourite queer actors.

Megan Stalter stars in Too Much, a new show that sees a New York workaholic move to London following a bad breakup. Fellow bi-con Erin Doherty is set to play a clinical psychologist in Adolescence, a show about a 13-year-old boy arrested for murder, slated for 13 March. The Abandons, a period drama set in the Wild West, will also come to Netflix this year, starring Gillian Anderson. And who could forget about season seven of Black Mirror? This season, the show will feature an appearance from Emma Corrin.

In terms of film, Havoc is an action thriller that sees a detective enter the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son. The film stars Jessie Mei Li, a gender non-conforming actor best known for playing Alina Starkov in Shadow And Bone.
