Sapphics, do not fear! We come bearing exciting news. The hit TV show Yellowjackets will be returning to our screens on 14 February – what’s more romantic than watching a cannibalistic tribe of schoolgirls on Valentine’s Day?

Paramount+ and Showtime have released the first teaser trailer for season three of the beloved show, which depicts a spooky-looking skull and snippets of what is sure to be a terrifyingly exhilarating new series. Accompanied by the caption “This Valentine’s Day eat your heart out”, we can imagine that there is plenty more gore to come from the Yellowjackets clan.

Ever since its release in 2021, survival drama Yellowjackets has become a fan favourite with LGBTQIA audiences. Centering on a high school girls’ football team who get stranded after a plane crash in remote Canada, things soon turn ugly as they attempt to survive in the harsh wilderness. Alternating between modern-day events when the survivors are adults and flashbacks to their teenage tragedy, the show has garnered wide acclaim.

Yellowjackets has captured the hearts of sapphics worldwide, offering a rich blend of suspense, complex characters, and unapologetically queer representation. Queer viewers have been drawn to the raw authenticity of characters like Taissa and Van, whose love story unfolds amidst chaos without reducing their identities to tokenism. The show’s willingness to explore messy, morally ambiguous femininity resonates deeply, providing a rare space where sapphics see themselves reflected in ways both empowering and heartbreakingly real.

You can watch the first two seasons of Yellowjackets now.
