INTERVIEW BY ROXY BOURDILLON, IMAGE BY TOBY LEWIS THOMAS
Lotte Jeffs (she/they) is an author, journalist and podcaster who has had a glittering media career. It actually began in the pages of this very magazine. Soon after graduation, she became DIVA’s travel editor and regular contributor. An award-winning journalist, she’s written for the national press, edited ELLE and interviewed A-listers from Kristen Stewart to Lana Del Rey. In recent years she’s added author to her ever-expanding list of achievements, penning memoir-meets-manual How To Be A Gentlewoman: The Art Of Soft Power In Hard Times, co-writing The Queer Parent: Everything You Need To Know From Gay To Ze with her Gay To Ze podcast co-host Stu Oakley, and even creating an inclusive picture book called My Magic Family.
Her debut novel, This Love, published by Dialogue Books, is out on 8 February. The story is a deeply moving ode to the beauty of queer friendship and the power in forging your own kind of family.

Here’s what Lotte had to say on…
Her journey to starting a family: “Becoming a parent made me more queer”
What her wife and daughter feel about her work: “They are super proud of me“
Her relationship with her cousin Romy, of The xx fame: “Romy and I have gone through so much grief and hardship together”
