BY ELLA GAUCI

DIVAs, congratulations are in order. Our very own fabulous editor-in-chief, Roxy Bourdillon, has been shortlisted for the New Editor Of The Year Award at the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors Awards 2023!

Waving the rainbow banner high in this category with our stunning Amber Whittington Pride issue on display, Roxy has been shortlisted alongside Kevin Smith (BBC Gardeners’ World), Adam Shepherd (PodPod), Alix Walker (Stylist), Jonathan Beckman (The Economist’s 1843 Magazine), Daisy Meager (The Infatuation London), and Lisa Barber (Which? Computing).

Appointed editor-in-chief in September 2021, Roxy has carried DIVA into an exciting new era which this year alone has seen the likes of the iconic Jennifer Beals, Cate Blanchett, and Janelle Monáe on the cover. Throughout her editorship so far, Roxy has championed diversity, commissioned game-changing, opinion-shaping content and spearheaded multiple sell-out issues.

Roxy says, “I’m honoured and delighted to be up for this award. It is a genuine thrill to see DIVA listed right there alongside such iconic publications. Huge thanks to BSME for shortlisting me and recognising the importance of queer media.”

The BSME awards will take place at Rosewood London on Tuesday 21 November. The star-studded event is set to be hosted by BSME chair and editor-in-chief of Glamour UK, Deborah Joseph and presenter, journalist and author, Vick Hope. To read the full shortlist, click here

DIVA’s very existence shows the power of queer media and the importance of keeping queer voices in the spotlight. A huge round of applause to our amazing editor-in-chief, Roxy Bourdillon!
