It’s been a long week, hasn’t it? The weather can’t make up its mind – are we in autumn or summer? – and it’s getting to that time of year when the sun is setting far earlier than it used to. Don’t worry if you feel like you haven’t been keeping track of all of the queer releases this week, we’ve got you covered. Here is DIVA’s Friday Round Up.
MUSIC: Demi Lovato – Revamped
Today marks a very exciting occasion as Demi Lovato (they/she) has just released their first remix album! The Camp Rock star has just dropped 10 re-recorded rock versions of songs from their previous albums such as Heart Attack, Confident, and Sorry Not Sorry. We absolutely cannot wait to jam out to these tracks.
TV: The Morning Show
AppleTV+ sapphic hit show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon is back for season three! Following the lives of the anchors and producers on the fictional show called The Morning Show, we’re hoping to see a lot more queer action from Reese Witherspoon’s character Bradley. Give us some more sapphic tension!
MUSIC: K.Flay – MONO
Known for hits like High Enough, two-time Grammy nominated star K.Flay has just released her album MONO. After losing her hearing in her right ear last year, MONO is a very special album in the way that it tackles this new chapter of her life. Following themes of anger, loneliness, and queer love, MONO is the perfect album to blast this weekend. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for our interview with K.Flay in the October/November issue.
BOOK: Wild Geese by Soula Emmanuel
This debut novel has been described as “the most exciting new voice in Irish writing”. Following our trans protagonist Phoebe Forde, Wild Geese tells the story of a woman who is confronted with her past when her first love reappears. Over the course of a single weekend, Soula Emmanuel is able to explore the themes of migration, gender, and love in all their mutli-faceted glory.
