This week has been a monumentally important time for the gays, film Twitter, and fans of the colour pink: the world premieres of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Celebrities took to the pink carpet in LA and London to show off their Barbie-inspired looks.
From Margot Robbie, Trixie Mattel, and Shay Mitchell, here are some of our favourite looks from the past week.
Issa Rae
Up first we have Issa Rae at the world premiere in LA. She completely understood the assignment and we couldn’t be more obsessed; she looks sensational.
Amelia Dimoldenberg
Everyone’s favourite Chicken Shop dater stuns the London pink carpet as the 2011 ‘I can be… news anchor’ Barbie. This look couldn’t be better, from the matching folder and microphone to the bows on the shoes; Amelia has provided such an iconic and detailed look.
Trixie Mattel
Following a lot of upset from the gays after Trixie was not cast in the film, she attended the LA pink carpet on Monday with her partner David. This is a classic Trixie look and we wouldn’t have expected anything less.
Alexandra Shipp
Alexandra Shipp showed us at the LA premiere that the visible bra trend is very much here to stay. Do I wish it was pink? Yes, but she still looks spectacular, and we can’t wait to see her in the film.
Simu Liu
Worn at the London premiere last night, I believe that this look has been grossly underrated on social media. I love the subtle flowers and Simu Liu deserves more commotion for this outfit.
Dua Lipa
The singer/mermaid of Barbieland stunned the London pink carpet in this dazzling sequined gown. I had a very similar dress for one of my Barbies as a child and it brought back a lot of nostalgia.
Hari Nef
This look is from the premiere in LA and although it isn’t pink, Hari looks so stunning, earning her a spot on this list.
Shay Mitchell
The Pretty Little Liars star has been stunning in Barbie-inspired looks for the Barbie the Movie x BÉIS campaign on social media, and I was so excited to see her on the LA pink carpet in this charming look.
America Ferrea
Like Simu, I believe America’s looks have been severely underrated online. Where is the noise for this stunning blush pink two-piece? This one she wore to the LA world premiere, but all her looks have been just as elegant.
Margot Robbie
Our final favourite is Barbie herself. I knew trying to pick just one Margot Robbie look for this list would be extremely difficult, but then she came out in this recreation of the 1960 ‘Enchanted Evening’ Barbie doll at the London premiere last night and I knew it was the one. Margot and her team have provided the most amazing Barbie-inspired looks for the pink carpet and press tours and I don’t want it to be over.
