Critically-acclaimed podcaster Damian Kerlin will host the new Iris Podcast for Pride Month this year. This podcast has been organised by the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival to celebrate Pride with six episodes to enjoy.
These episodes have been designed to act as a valuable resource for aspiring LGBTQIA filmmakers and storytellers, offering insight into the work that goes on at Iris Prize. Representing the largest LGBTQ+ short film prize in the world, the Iris podcast will include previous Iris Prize winners, industry specialists and other LGBTQIA creatives.
Listeners can expect to hear industry insight about a range of topics including: authentic casting, queer documentary making, taking a script to screen, representing queer youth, making films in Wales, and bringing queer stories to life.
Damian Kerlin said: “It was an absolute joy to host the Iris Podcast. Far too often we only hear from those in front of the camera in the film industry, that we fail to showcase the talent, but also the goings on, the trials and tribulations, behind the scenes. It was incredible to hear their stories and the fact that they are queer-centred is even better as representation, and the telling of our own stories has never been more important.”
As well as launching the Iris Podcast, Iris will also be hosting the Mini Iris Film Festival at Cowbridge Pride on Wednesday, 21 June.
