OVO have exciting plans to celebrate this year’s Lesbian Visibility Week. The Hydro in Glasgow will be lit in the colours of the Lesbian Pride Flag on 24-26 April and 30 April. London’s Wembley Arena will also be lit the whole week.
The importance of diversity and inclusivity was emphasised in the following statement from the company: “Here at OVO, we’re committed to building Belonging, not just because it’s the right thing to do but also because a more diverse and inclusive workforce is a happier, more engaged, and more productive one. We know that an environment where we all feel welcome and respected means we can do our best work. Ideas can be shared and challenged without fear. And we can do what’s right by our customers because we better reflect them, and understand their needs. We know that gay women are twice as unlikely to be out in the workplace as gay men, and often feel misunderstood and under-supported. That’s why showing our support to this group, and all LGBTIAQ+ women and nonbinary folks, is important to us.”
Louise Bailey, who has been recognised in the Exceptional Inclusion Top 10 at previous British LGBT Awards, has been an advocate for queer rights and greater inclusion throughout her time at OVO. In an interview spotlighting her work, she stated that “it means a lot to support LGBT+ charities and simple things like lighting our venues, the SSE Hyrdo and The SSE Arena, Wembley in the colours of the Trans, Lesbian and Pride flags has meant so much to so many people.”
Thanks to OVO’s work, next week promises an exciting display and celebration of lesbian pride across these two landmark arenas.
