Recognising the industry’s standout art directors, columnists, launches, covers and editors, the shortlist for the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Awards 2022 – the biggest digital and print magazine awards ceremony – has been announced. In exciting news, DIVA’s editor-in-chief Roxy Bourdillon has been shortlisted for the coveted Editor of the Year – Independent Award, sponsored by Magculture.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony on Tuesday 29 November 2022 at Pan Pacific, London. Recognising extraordinary individuals for their dedication and outstanding editorial contribution to the magazine industry, the Mark Boxer Award and the Editors’ Editor of the Year Award are among the nomination categories.

Appointed editor-in-chief in September 2021, Roxy Bourdillon has spearheaded a new era for DIVA Magazine, appointing and leading a new editorial team with a fresh vision. Under her leadership, DIVA has featured incredible cover stars including Emeli Sandé, Tegan and Sara, Emily Bridges, Melissa Etheridge, Lady Phyll and Taylor Hickson, continuing to build on the legacy DIVA has been championing since 1994.

BSME chair Tim Pollard states, “Well done to everyone who’s made the shortlist. Rest assured, only the best entries make it this far. We’ve had hundreds of entries this year, and this year’s crop have knocked our socks off – the quality, originality and innovation that the British magazine and digital media sector thrives on is evident in abundance once again.

“Judging the BSME Awards is one of the highlights of my year: I love seeing examples of great editing, whether it’s redesigning a magazine, delivering a compelling digital proposition or just good old-fashioned page craft to make a jaw-dropping feature when you turn the page. We’d like to congratulate all those on the shortlist – and wish you the very best of luck on the night. We hope to meet many of you at the awards ceremony in The City. It’s shaping up to be an editorial party to remember!”
