LOOSE CHANGE is back, honeys! Taking place at Latino Hits in Dalston, East London on Saturday 1 October, LOOSE CHANGE is a new, cause-centred queer night founded by four friends in May 2022. Since, it has held two sell-out events in support of Gendered Intelligence and London Friend. Entitled Wonderland and HEATWAVE, the Tipsy-hosted events raised £1000 and £1200 respectively. Now, doesn’t that scream queer joy?

Ready to get spooky? Saturday’s event – titled DROP DEAD GORGEOUS – is a Halloween-themed bash. Welcoming DJ sets from singer-songwriter Foxgluvv (she/her), co-founder of LGBTQIA club night Gal Pals DJ Xzan (they/he) and black mamba (he/him), this party will be staffed by queer-led security firm Safe Only. Proceeds will go towards LGBTQ+ homelessness charity Stonewall Housing.

“LOOSE CHANGE was founded after the four of us threw a joint birthday party that went down equally well with the venue as it did our friends” explains co-founder Matt Horwood, Communications Director at human rights group Liberty. “We enjoyed throwing the party and wanted to do it again – this time to help make some kind of positive change. The four of us make no money from the events. Our parties aim to create safe, fun and inclusive spaces for queer partygoers while raising money for causes we care about.”

Any fashion lovers in the house? Saturday’s event will be hosting an oh-so-iconic Best Look contest with a glittering panel of judges. Singer-songwriter girli (she/her), activist and writer Sabah Choudrey (them/them), gal-dem editor-in-chief Suyin Haynes (she/her) and Stonewall Housing Advice and Advocacy Caseworker Madeleine Shannon (they/them) will be assessing those carefully curated lewks, so get your sewing machine – or glue gun – warmed up. Dress to kill!
