Here’s everything you need to know 🏳️‍🌈

It’s always great news when a new Pride organisation is founded. This weekend, it will be the first time for New Brighton, the lovely sea town located in the far north-eastern end of the Wirral peninsula.

The New Brighton Pride, affiliated with the Liverpool City Region (LCR) Pride Foundation, is taking place this Saturday (27 August) at the Floral Pavilion.

Opening the day, a muster will be held from 10:30am with speeches from the local LGBTQI community’s members, followed by a one minute of silent commemoration for the community’s lost ones. The organisers said on social media: “This time will be used to stand united as we recognize the many challenges still faced by LGBTQ+ communities both here and around the world.”

The main event will take place from 11am – 5pm, with live music, market stalls and family-friendly entertainment. The full line-up of guests, including Pop Vox Choir and headliner Mandi Fisher, is available on Instagram.

The muster and main event are both free to attend. For accessibility needs, check out the organisation’s dedicated post.

The New Brighton Hotel Bar and Lounge will host the official Pride afterparty, an evening of drag acts and music going on from 7pm to midnight. Tickets are available for those over the age of 18.

Due to a possible intensification of traffic related to the bank holiday, attendees are advised to reach New Brighton Pride using public transport. The New Brighton Train Station and the Morrisons Bus Stop are both a short walk from the Floral Pavilion.
