It’s never too early to start planning your queer summer fun…

Every summer brings us a whole host of festivals packed with some of our favourite queer icons. Last year we saw Christine And The Queens headline All Points East, Janelle Monáe at Glastonbury and Celine Dion at British Summer Time.
No matter what you’re looking for – electronic tunes, boutique festival frolics, house and techno bangers, folk festivals – there’s something queer happening in a field this summer.
Here’s DIVA’s round-up of some our fave LGBTQI-friendly festivals taking place in 2020. Get your wellies and your flower crowns ready – you don’t wanna miss out!
Mighty Hoopla
We had to start off this list with Might Hoopla. It’s London’s most vibrant and inclusive festival, returning to Brockwell Park on 6 June 2020 for a celebration of pop music and good times. So far they’ve announced Cheryl, Natasha Bedingfield, Atomic Kitten, Becky Hill and Gabrielle.
All Points East
All Points East is a 10 day festival of music and entertainment in east London’s Victoria Park feat. six headline shows and four days of free activities during the week. So far, we’ve got our eye on weekend number one, with Tame Impala and Massive Attack headlining.
British Summer Time (BST)
BST is thriving with some queer icons this year and in the words of the queen of pop herself, we need to calm down. Taylor Swift and Little Mix are among the headliners for this summertime spectacle.
Truck
Truck Festival announced its 2020 line-up in the form of a fortune cookie and the future is looking bright! Bombay Bicycle Club and The Kooks will be performing while the sun (hopefully) shines this summer.
Y Not
This one is for the indie kids. With the likes of Foals, Wolf Alice and The Big Moon set to take to the stage, you’d be a fool to miss it.
Lost Village
Lost Village is a surreal festival experience that takes place in a secluded woodland in Lincolnshire. Festival-goers are invited to explore an abandoned world that encompasses dilapidated buildings, old junkyards, hidden gardens and a disused airbase. This year you can find Arlo Parks and Four Tet in the forest.
Green Man
Frolic in a field to folk music at Green Man and get lost to the delicious sounds of This Is The Kit, Liz Lawrence and Sudan Archives. There’s also plenty of comedy, poetry and activities going on all day long. Plus, it’s set against a dreamy mountain backdrop in Wales. The perfect festival with a little something for everyone.
Glastonbury
We’re sure you didn’t need reminding of this one, since two million people registered for tickets for the 50th anniversary festival this year. The only acts confirmed so far are Diana Ross, Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney, but it’s certainly a great place to start.
Isle Of Wight
The Isle of Wight Festival is the first major festival in the UK summer calendar every year. For 2020, the line-up includes Lionel Richie, Lewis Capaldi, Maisie Peters and many more.
Latitude
From music to theatre to comedy to food to award-winning family fun – there’s something for everyone at Latitude. This year’s line-up is pretty dreamy, packed with our favourite females such as Haim, Charli XCX, Phoebe Bridgers and Marika Hackman.
Lovebox
Another female packed line-up? Yes please. You’ll catch us front row for FKA Twigs and moving and grooving to Mabel at Lovebox this year.
Boardmasters
After last year’s cancelled festival, Boardmasters have a lot of making up to do in 2020. There haven’t been any line-up announcements yet, but we’re sure it’s going to be bigger and better to make up for lost time.
Boomtown Fair
It’s time for Chapter 12: New Beginnings. Boomtown is a city of music, theatre, escapism, community and creativity. Keep your eyes peeled for line-up announcements over the next few weeks for the most theatrically immersive festival experience in the UK.
Gottwood
Gottwood is a well-kept secret located on the breathtaking Isle of Anglesey. It’s an annual celebration of the electronic underground, surrounded by lakes and forest views along with some of the prettiest sunsets on the UK festival scene.
End Of The Road
End Of The Road is back in business with yet another phenomenal line-up. A mixture of folk, electronic and talented wordsmith’s are gracing the stages at Larmer Tree Gardens this year.
Parklife
The wait for the Parklife line-up announcement is over and there are some amazing acts to look forward to in 2020. Now the biggest metropolitan festival in Europe, Parklife will see 160,000 music lovers fill Heaton Park across the weekend.
Citadel
Citadel Festival returns to London’s iconic Gunnersbury Park this summer for its one-day venture, brought together by the same team behind the renowned Lovebox and Wilderness Festival. The perfect soundtrack to your Sunday!
Naked City
Naked City is a summer electronic music festival on southeastern reaches of London and it’s back for it’s second year. Headliners for 2020 include Awesome Tapes From Africa, Calibre and Hollie Cook.
Field Day
Field Day will take place at London’s most unique festival venue – The Drumsheds. This year’s programme will celebrate the full spectrum. There are both live and DJ performances across one day and three stages of music, running louder and later with indoor stages, continuing until 3am.
HearHer Festival
The indoor boutique festival with an all female line-up is returning for 2020. HearHer is more than just a weekend of music: HearHer is part of a movement. No line-up announcements just yet, but we can tell you that it’ll be taking place 9 – 11 October 2020, so make sure you keep it free!
