Dab hand with a pen, paintbrush or camera? Find out how you could have your artwork displayed in central London over Pride

BY DANIELLE MUSTARDE

Are you a doodler? Always covered in paint? Or perhaps you’re not too shabby with a camera – then Queer Frontiers is for you.

Founded in 2018, Queer Frontiers was set up by leading art consultancy ARTIQ as an “expression of solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community globally” with a particular focus on profiling the work of queer artists. Sounds good, right?

Last year, at the first ever Queer Frontiers event, ARTIQ took over a pop-up space in Soho during (and with the support of) Pride In London. Providing a platform to showcase the talents of a diverse range of international artists, all profits from the sale of the artworks went to LGBTQI charities and organisations. (Hurray!)

This year, Queer Frontiers is back and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever! Artworks will be sold in aid of the event’s partnering charities, Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT) and Switchboard LGBT, and the event will once again take place over Pride In London – which this year celebrates its #PrideJubilee.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Hiscox on board as the new event sponsor this year,” commented Patrick McCrae, CEO of ARTIQ.

“As a business, our whole ethos is about bridging the gap between the creative and business worlds. This event is a perfect embodiment of that.

To kick things off, ARTIQ has released its call-out for artworks to be submitted for inclusion in the exhibition, with a final submission deadline of midnight, 13th May 2019.

The artworks – to be submitted by LGBTQI artists and allies – can take any form; from paintings and photographic work to sculptures and screenprints, it’s your call.

However you choose to present your work, ARTIQ is inviting entries that “celebrate our shifting world and growing awareness around notions of pride, community, and social progress.”

This could include works responding to the themes of diversity, inclusion, equality, creativity, optimism and kindness.

Artists can also elect either to give 50% or 100% of the sale of each artwork to our partnership charities, as they see fit, with ARTIQ foregoing all the usual commission/fees to enter the competition.
