Kate Osborne MP kicked off Lesbian Visibility Week yesterday (22 April) with the first-ever LVW launch at the House of Commons. Taking place in the Churchill Room, the evening saw speeches from Labour MP Kate Osborne, Ashley Dalton MP, the new Director of Lesbian Visibility Week Nancy Kelley, and the Chair of LGBT Foundation Jax Effiong.

Speakers like Ashley Dalton and Jax Effiong focused on celebrating the LGBTQIA leaders who paved the way for us today. Nancy Kelley gave a powerful speech using this year’s Kantar DIVA survey to remind us that the fight was not over. Kate Osborne even said that this was (unofficially) the largest gathering of LGBTQIA women and non-binary in Parliament.

The launch also saw the attendance of MPs like Dawn Butler, Angela Eagle DBE, Nia Davies and Ray Collins, Baron Collins of Highbury.

This year’s Lesbian Visibility Week is celebrating the diversity of our community with the theme #UnifiedNotUniform. Lesbian Visibility Week was founded in 2019 by DIVA Publisher Linda Riley.

On Thursday 25 April, Kate Osborne will be hosting a debate in Parliament for Lesbian Visibility Week.
