This week, Home Secretary Suella Braverman made dehumanising comments attacking LGBTQIA asylum seekers. She argued that facing discrimination or persecution based on sexual orientation should not qualify refugees for asylum.

These remarks impinge on fundamental LGBTQIA rights and dignity. We cannot stay silent when a senior government official promotes such harmful views.

In collaboration with the African Rainbow Family, we are organising a protest to stand in solidarity against Braverman’s stance. The demonstration will take place this Sunday, October 1, at Parliament Square.

We are calling on London’s LGBTQIA community and allies to join us at the protest. By turning up in force, we can send a powerful message to Suella and the government that they cannot trample LGBTQ+ rights.
