LGBTQIA+ reality TV fans around the world were left spinning when it was announced that the hugely popular I Kissed A Girl and I Kissed A Boy shows were going to be cancelled. Both shows spotlighted and celebrated queer love, and opened up a lot of important discussions on LGBTQIA+ topics. And it’s not just the fans who are devastated by the cancellation. At the start of this year’s Lesbian Visibility Week, I Kissed A Girl stars also spoke out against the show’s cancellation.
While the show has been cancelled, the creators of the BBC series are returning with a weekly dating podcast, made in partnership with Tinder. It will be co-hosted by two favourites from the reality TV franchise, Amy Spalding and Gareth Valentino.
Each episode, the duo will sit down with a range of famous faces to discuss everything from what makes the perfect queer date night to their kisses to remember. Tia Kofi, Rosie Jones, Nathan Henry and Cat Burns are some of the confirmed guests of this spin-off podcast.
And it was recently announced that model and reality star Christine McGuinness and Australian footballer Joshua Cavallo are confirmed for the double-episode launch, which will be released on 28 April.
Listeners will also hear the hosts dive into their own dating experiences, from cheating exes to their most memorable dates.
Pssst… you can still get your hands on a copy of The Dyke Issue of DIVA magazine. Within its pages, Amy Spalding talks all things lesbian history and the impact of I Kissed A Girl.
It Started With A Kiss launches on 28 April, and will be available on platforms such as YouTube and Spotify.
