If you’re a frequent reader of DIVA, you’re probably well aware of the incredible actor and LGBTQIA+ ally Suranne Jones. After all, we’ve had her on the cover of our magazine multiple times and we’re *obsessed* with all the iconic queer characters she’s portrayed from Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack to DCI Amy Silva in Vigil. While the former devastated fans with its premature cancellation, we have good news. Vigil is confirmed to be returning for its third season, and first look images have now been released. Let’s take a look at what we know so far…

When will Vigil season 3 be released?
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, an exact release date hasn’t been confirmed. Though we do know it will definitely air later this year. So, why not re-watch seasons one and two while you wait?

What will this instalment be about?
This chapter takes viewers to a remote Arctic research station following the killing of a member of a covert British special forces mission. DCI Amy Silva (Suranne) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie, Game Of Thrones) are on a mission to track down the killer while attempting to prevent an international crisis over energy and resources. Oh, as if that wasn’t enough to juggle, their careers and relationship are also hanging in the balance.
If seasons one and two are anything to go by, it’s going to be a thrilling ride and Suranne will deliver some stunning sapphic representation.

Who has been cast this time around?
This is who you can look forward to seeing on the screen in this instalment…
Suranne Jones as DCI Amy Silva, Rose Leslie as DI Kirsten Longacre, Gary Lewis (A Thousand Blows) as DS Robertson, Dominic Mafham (Industry) as Sir Ian Downing, Jeppe Beck Laursen (The Last Kingdom), Steven Miller (Casualty), Naomi Yang (Wolfe), Benjamin Wainwright (Maigret), Tornike Gogrichiani (Extraction 2), Danusia Samal (The Great), Artur Zai Barrera (The Old Man), Jordan Duvigneau (Stolen Girl), Kaisa Hammarlund (Hijack), Adam Fidusiewicz (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Eric Godon (In Bruges), Conor Berry (Schemers), Amy Manson (The Nevers), Jason Tobin (A Thousand Blows), Steven Cree (Outlaw King), Killian Coyle (Endeavour), Derek Riddell (Happy Valley), Alma Prelec (Quiet Nights), Dawn Sievewright (Andor) and Shereen Cutkelvin (Crime).
