We hope you’re ready to take a sexy picture of CMAT next summer with the return of LIDO Festival. The queer icon will be headlining the Victoria Park Festival on 12 June, ready to belt out her viral hit records.
Next year will mark the second edition of the London-based day festival which saw Charli XCX headline last year. LIDO offers attendees a completely new festival experience, providing a lineup that has been programmed by the headliners themselves.
Well, CMAT obviously has good taste because joining her on the day is trans icon Beverly Glenn-Copeland. The legendary singer blends jazz, new age and folk with early techno. His songs have been inspiring listeners since the release of his debut album in 1970, and The xx’s Romy even sampled one of his songs on her debut album Mid Air.
CMAT has blown away LGBTQIA+ fans this year with the release of her album EURO-COUNTRY. After joking that her fans are all “Irish or lesbians”, CMAT has firmly become a queer icon. For those of you ready to whip out the “woke macarena” – the name she has dubbed for the fan dance to her hit song Take A Sexy Picture Of Me – you’ll want to head to LIDO next summer.
Other acts on the day include queer ally Father John Misty who once donated all the proceeds of a concert to a LGBTQIA+ charity in order to show his disagreement with a “bullshit” anti-trans law. Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, Getdown Services, Katy J Pearson, Junior Brother and more will also be playing on the day.
If this winter is already getting you down, why not look ahead to summer skies and some thumping music? Electronic duo Maribou State will be headlining the second weekend of the festival.
Tickets go on general sale on 13 November www.lidofestival.com
