Feel Good

DIVA’s favourite Mae Martin is always our comfort television personality to look to for high-quality entertainment, and they don’t disappoint with this poignant semi-autobiographic series. Whilst deeply personal and heartbreakingly honest at moments, this show is perfect if you are looking for a gently gripping watch to return to each evening. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will become personally invested in the characters and their happiness.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor

With spooky season upon us, it is only right to include a true Halloween watch on this list. The Haunting Of Bly Manor is perfect for the occasion: serving up a generous portion of seasonal spooks to enjoy from the safety of the sofa. Inspired by classic Gothic stories, this show follows the arrival of a young American woman to a haunted English manor house. As she delves into the world of ghosts and ghouls, she also becomes embroiled in a lesbian romance that is guaranteed to keep you hooked. This is the perfect sapphic Halloween watch!

Orphan Black

For those who like their horror to be touched with a hint of sci-fi, then Orphan Black is the perfect watch for this autumn. The series addresses the topic of human cloning, making for simultaneously disturbing and riveting television. The show is known for its LGBTQIA+ characters and actors, making sure that representation doesn’t go unnoticed in this fast-paced plot.

Wayward

Mae Martin strikes again with this new mystery thriller show. Starring Mae and movie titan Toni Collette, this limited series explores the mystery of an ominous correctional academy in Vermont, USA. This is a series that serves a double-whammy of edge-of-the-seat suspense and trans representation, thanks to Mae’s enduring screen presence and thoughtful script writing.

Gen V

This cult show is back for a second season this autumn, making it the perfect new show to get hooked on. For the unfamiliar, this show is a spinoff of The Boys, but queerer and better. Featuring an action-packed storyline following young superheroes and the romantic tensions that arise between them, there is LGBTQIA+ love aplenty here.

Heartstopper

No list would be complete without the inclusion of Heartstopper, the ultimate comfort watch. Although many of us will have watched this show by now, the dark nights of autumn call for a rewatch of our favourite uplifting LGBTQIA+ series. And if you have yet to join the Heartstopper fan bus, then now is the perfect time.

What We Do In The Shadows

Quirky vampires, haunted houses and feel-good comedy: What We Do In The Shadows is the ultimate feel-good Halloween show to indulge in this autumn. The cherry on top? This show absolutely nails queer representation: tackling the concepts of chosen families, unrestrained self-expression and liberation, as well as featuring an array of fabulously camp and queer vampire friends. With six seasons to get through, the watch party for this could last you until December!
