Big news for sports gays: WNBA star Paige Bueckers has seemingly confirmed her relationship with Azzi Fudd.
In an interview with Wagtalk (17 July), Paige was asked to play the game “How well do you know your D1 girlfriend?” For avid fans of basketball, it was pretty easy to work out immediately that Paige was talking about Azzi.
The pair have been rumoured to be together for a while, but neither had confirmed or denied their relationship status. However, when asked what Azzi’s phone case said on it, Paige nonchalantly replied, “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend”.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine after, Paige joked about revealing her relationship in the interview: “That was just a setup. I didn’t even mean for that to happen, and here we are.”
She continued: “We haven’t officially announced anything, but it’s just stuff has been happening that has it out there. So, it is what it is.”
The pair have been in each other’s lives for a long time, going all the way back to 2017 when both tried out for the USA national team. In 2020, they both played on the same team – UConn Huskies – after Paige ran a successful campaign to get Azzi to join.
Fans were naturally ecstatic to hear this news. “This has just made my whole year,” one wrote. “My life is complete,” another commented.
