Oh Miriam, you do know how to make us smile. The queer icon posted a video to TikTok advertising her new Edinburgh Fringe show, and it’s just as hilarious as you can imagine.

Miriam Margolyes is set to take her new show Margolyes And Dickens: More Best Bits to the Fringe once again this year, bringing to life some of literature’s beloved characters. Sharing wild tales about the man behind the classics, the show will also feature a Q&A for you to ask the star anything.

In true Miriam fashion, the first thing she cleared up in her video was that she was not on “death’s door” as had been reported. “Bollocks!” she exclaimed. “I’m very much alive and raring to go to the Edinburgh Fringe this year.”

“Oh my goodness you’ll have a good time!” she added.

The beloved television and film legend certainly knows how to shock an audience. When speaking about the Q&A portion of her show, Miriam stated: “My heart, my life, and my legs are open to all of you.”

Fans quickly expressed their delight at this message from Miriam, with one user writing: “A queen and British icon. We love you Miriam!”

Another wrote: “My goal in life is to give as many less effffs as Miriam.”

Last year, Miriam’s sold-out show received rave reviews and ratings, showing just how much of a national treasure she is. This new show is set to be even wilder, with all of Miriam’s classic wit and humour thrown in there for good measure.

In our interview with Miriam last year, she spoke candidly about how much she loved being LGBTQIA+. “I’m gay and I’m really pleased I am. I wouldn’t be straight for anything,” she told DIVA

See Miriam Margolyes at Pentland Theatre, Pleasance at EICC from 9-24 August (not 18 and 21) at 6 pm.
