Fans of Prime Video’s The Boys were left shaking after the season four finale aired last summer. While we are still a long way away from an announcement regarding a release date for the fifth instalment, we did receive the great news that its wonderfully queer spin-off show, Gen V, will be returning to our screens this autumn.
When we last saw these characters, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) had found herself facing off with Homelander (Antony Starr). Instead of Homelander’s blast killing her, we see her wake up alongside Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor, Derek Luh) and Emma (Lizzie Broadway). The squad have somehow found themselves confined in a windowless, doorless quarters after failing to stop Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann), who had the backing of Homelander.
Prime Video have released a teaser trailer that really encapsulates the high stakes our protagonists have found themselves in. Last time around, Marie and the shapeshifting Jordan began to explore their relationship – amid multiple life and death situations – and from the looks of the trailer, this will continue.
The official synopsis for this season reads: “In season two, school is back in session. As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander’s iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realise. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it.”
Most of the cast is back for this next chapter. Tragically, Chance passed away in 2023. The production team didn’t recast the role and instead the writers appear to have incorporated his death into the storyline.
Gen V will kick off its second season with a three-episode premiere on 17 September 2025. You can watch the first look teaser below.
