Reneé Rapp is a “real bad girl, but a real good kisser”. At least, according to her new song, Leave Me Alone, she is. Reneé stans will already be familiar with her unfiltered and outspoken reputation  – the kind that had people wondering if she’d ever had media training – but this song takes it to another level… and fans are loving it.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting another song from the Poison Poison singer. Her last single, Not My Fault, came out in early 2024, coinciding with the release of the Mean Girls reboot she starred in. Reneé first teased that new music might be on the way with a TikTok, in which she appeared topless, flexing her biceps whilst wearing a cap that reads “BITE ME”, the title of her upcoming sophomore album.

Needless to say, this track was worth the wait. The lyrics are quintessential Reneé. She’s spilling her guts and does not care if they make a mess all over the floor. Her no-cares-to-give attitude is in full force, as proven by the (alleged) swipe she takes at her former show, The Sex Lives Of College Girls

It’s unconfirmed but at one point she sings, “Took my sex life with me, now the show ain’t f***ing” and fans are convinced the singer is shading the HBO show she used to star in. On X, one user shared the lyrics and simply wrote: “i love you reneé rapp”.

The rest of the song continues to call out paparazzi – “I just wanna dance, don’t take my picture” – and then ends the song with a reference to two exes. “The three of us together, that’s a real tongue twister” she sings, sending our sapphic hearts into a frenzy.

Reneé also dropped a music video, which features the most violent and blood-filled pillow fight known to man. She sings in nothing but her underwear and a hoodie, while punching other blondes, wearing nothing but their underwear and a hoodie. Summarising the video on Instagram, Reneé said: “u ever just passed out and fought your lookalikes and opps in your dreams”.

Fans have, of course, gone wild. One posted to X: “Reneé Rapp is back to save pop music with the release of “Leave Me Alone”, her latest single!”

And a third said it was “Christmas for lesbians”.

The full album is set to be released on 1 August.
