Queer Edge will be hosting a new panel to centre trans voices at a time when they most need to be heard. Taking place on 27 May at WeWork Waterloo, the event will bring together powerful trans voices to create a space for solidarity, allyship and anger.

Queer Edge is an East London queer collective who create inclusive spaces for the LGBTQIA community, including parties, panel discussions and queer co-working spaces.

This new panel will bring together Married At First Sight’s Ella Morgan, DJ Jessie Mac, film editor Coleen Goudie, social media educator CJ Calista and founder and CEO of Trans Legal Clinic Olivia Campbell-Cavendish. The panel will be hosted by Aoife Smyth.

Queer Edge spoke about the importance of having trans voices at the heart of this panel. “As trans rights continue to face increasing hostility in public discourse, this event will centre trans voices with clarity, strength, and joy. It is a chance for everyone to listen, learn, and act — not through second-hand narratives, but directly from those at the heart of the conversation.”

“This QETALK isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s about truth, lived experience, and the urgent need to push back against misinformation and fear with empathy, evidence and visibility.”

The panel follows the UK Supreme Court’s ruling in April this year about the definition of the term “woman” in the Equality Act 2010. Panellists like Ella Morgan have already spoken candidly about the impact of this ruling, with the MAFS star attending the BAFTA TV Awards earlier this month with a bag that read “Trans women are women”.

Since the UK Supreme Court ruling, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) also released interim guidance, which requires toilet use based on “biological sex”. A number of sports, like football, have stated that trans women will be banned from playing in women’s teams.
