Are you ready for this very sapphic trip down memory lane?

If, like me, you have been obsessed with Reneé Rapp since you first came across the star, you have likely been crossing your fingers and hoping for some new music from the singer-songwriter. Her debut album Snow Angel was released in 2023, and her EP Everything To Everyone was released the previous year. And we, of course, loved hearing Reneé’s take on the iconic villain Regina George in last year’s Mean Girls musical movie. We fans have had the artist on loop, and perhaps our prayers have been answered as it appears that the Tummy Hurts singer is teasing a new era and potential album.
Earlier this month, Reneé updated her Instagram profile picture to be a close-up of what looks like her mouth, her bottom lip pulled back to reveal a tattoo reading: “BITE ME”. Her website also received an exciting (and mysterious) update. At the time of writing, it has a dark red background and large white text reading: “SIGN A HUNDRED NDAS BUT SHE’LL STILL SAY SOMETHING”. There’s also a button reading: “THE BITE ME NDA”. When pressed, it links users to a PDF of what reads as an actual NDA.
The wording of the NDA has left many fans speculating that there could be a new single released on 21 May, with more releases – hopefully a full album – potentially coming out in late summer.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, I think it’s safe to say it’s time to get excited. While we twiddle our thumbs waiting for more, it’s time to take a look at the gayest moments of this iconic lesbian’s career so far. I’m sure there will be many more soon.
That time when she…
Appeared as the little lesbian intern on SNL
In a hilarious live sketch with Jacob Elordi and Bowen Yang, Reneé was introduced as their “little lesbian intern”. It was great to see the label used so proudly on such a popular show. She also continued to loudly and proudly use the label as much as possible during the musical’s press tour.
Made her red carpet debut as a couple with Towa Bird
Last year, the Snow Angel singer posed alongside musician Towa Bird at Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty red carpet. This hard launched their relationship and cemented the musicians as a celesbian power couple. Since then, Reneé has posted many adorable snaps of the lovebirds onto her socials. The couple have also performed onstage together multiple times and shared many a public display of affection.
Invited Kesha and the cast of The L Word to join her onstage for her 2024 Coachella set
Sapphics squealed with joy when they saw actors Jennifer Beals, Kate Moenning, Leisha Hailey and L Word creator Ilene Chaiken introduced during her set. “You might know us from a little show called The L Word,” they yelled at the audience.
Another gay highlight from Coachella was when she planted a kiss on Towa Bird.
Played Leighton on The Sex Lives Of College Girls
The first time I came across Reneé was when she portrayed the preppy lesbian with a secret heart of gold on The Sex Lives Of College Girls. In DIVA’s January 2023 issue, Reneé spoke to DIVA all about being on the show and shooting sex scenes onscreen: “It’s really great that you see two gay women just doing their thing and being intimate with each other and not in a way that feels hypersexualised or for someone else’s benefit,” she told DIVA.
Crushed on Rachel McAdams
When appearing on The Late Show amid the Mean Girls press tour, Stephen Colbert asked the actor and singer if she had any notes for Rachel McAdams, who originally played Regina George back in 2004. She decided to shoot her shot with her answer, saying: “Date me?”
Made out with “her clone” in the Pretty Girls music video
There are a couple of things that make this one of the gayest things that the singer has put out there. 1) Reneé spends a night yearning after and making out with a girl who happens to look a lot like her. 2) It’s directed by pansexual model and actor Cara Delevingne.
Collaborated with bisexual musician Megan Thee Stallion
It was great to see the iconic lesbian and the iconic bisexual collaborate to bring us the wonderfully pink music video for us to stream on repeat.
