WorkPride is back for its sixth year and couldn’t come at a better time.
According to research by myGwork, the world’s largest LGBTQIA business platform, over three quarters of LGBTQIA job seekers hesitate to join companies where they cannot openly express their sexuality, believing that doing so might hinder their career potential.
The data also shows that 80 per cent would avoid companies that have recently withdrawn support for the queer community. Meanwhile, mental illness is a widespread problem amongst LGBTQIA professionals. Nearly half have experienced depression – a figure that increases to 53 per cent for trans and non-binary individuals, and almost 60 per cent for bi or plurisexual individuals. It’s clear that something needs to change.
WorkPride 2025, a five-day global conference taking place from 16 June to 20 June, seeks to combat these barriers. Now in its sixth year, the event will feature over 200 international speakers and over 40 sessions, dedicated to creating a more inclusive workplace environment for all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.
Adrien and Pierre Gaubert, twin brothers and co-founders of myGwork, said: “WorkPride 2025 is once again set to provide a dynamic platform for dialogue, learning and collaboration.”
The current US administration’s ban on DEI initiatives in the federal government, has brought this issue into even sharper focus. MyGwork saw a 120 per cent increase in traffic from US job seekers following the shocking announcement.
Adrien and Pierre Gaubert added: “We invite LGBTQ+ professionals, allies, and inclusive employers – as well as anyone passionate about championing workplace equality – to join us for meaningful discussions that will help shape the future of workplace inclusion and DEI.”
The two brothers are decorated with awards for their dedication to diversity and inclusion. Most recently, they were shortlisted for the 2024 National Diversity Awards as Entrepreneurs of Excellence, and they have also been celebrated as inspirational role models by the Global Diversity List and the Diversity Power List.
The theme of this year’s event is Your Allyship Journey Starts Here. It boasts a huge range of panels and workshops, covering diverse topics; from the “Rainbow Wage Gap” and inclusive language to intersectionality and measuring inclusion through data.
One of the event’s sponsors is Organon Pride Network. David Burten, their global co-lead said he was proud to support the conference because, “our partnership with myGwork not only helps us attract talent but also enables us to grow and continuously improve.”
